Given Joe Biden's comments this morning which fueled the media fire over the H1N1 flu virus, I thought it quite brilliant that Jiffy Lube would go out with their poll on how American's would travel this summer.  Of course it promotes road trips!

While this poll was conducted back in February, way before we were worried about the so-called Swine Flu from Mexico, it reports that 71 percent of Americans traveling this summer will go by car.  In your very own car.  Traveling only with your own germs.  Surely even Joe Biden, whose office has clarified his statement to be in line with what the President has said (that if you're sick you shouldn't travel by air or subway), would be happy with this mode of transit.

So let's not forget where we were a week ago when the sagging economy was the travel talk of the day.  It seemed logical that more people would drive this year than in previous years to save, though flight deals remain excellent, and hotel deals abound. Lodging savings can make your vacation much more affordable and packages are the best way to save.

There's nothing wrong with dreaming, planning or thinking about traveling right now...In fact I spend my days devoted to it.
