On Saturday morning, I appeared on WCBS here in New York to share some ideas for last-minute Valentine's Day getaways for New Yorkers. Yes, I realize many of our readers don't live in New York, so these suggestions might not apply to you. The overall point of the piece though, is that with Valentine's Day falling on a Saturday this year and also coinciding with Presidents' Day (read: extra day off from work) weekend AND the amazing hotel deals out there -- well, it's a perfect recipe for a weekend getaway. But back to New York. Here's my list -- please chime in with great ideas for weekend getaways from your city.

The Algonquin Hotel, New York, NY

People come from all over the world to celebrate Valentine's Day in New York City -- why not take advantage of the great hotel deals available right now, even if it's just for a night? I've heard rooms at The Algonquin are filling up fast for the 14th of February, so my advice is to give the overnight as a gift on Saturday and check in Sunday. Rooms are available from $199 night. For an extra $95, ask the hotel to arrange for champagne and strawberries for your sweetie.

Virginia Hotel, Cape May, NJ

Cape May is a famous summer destination, but the low season offers all the charm at a fraction of the price. There's plenty to love about this town -- the Victorian houses that line the streets, the nature walks every Saturday, and the fact that it is a National Historic District. The Virginia Hotel is a 24-room inn in the heart of it all. It has a great dining room for a romantic dinner, and continental breakfast is included in the room rates -- from $179 per night.

The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia, PA

Philadelphia is catapulting up the list in terms of popularity, and it's no wonder. This city of neighborhoods is at once cosmopolitan and charming, historic and modern. The best thing about Philly is its 200+ BYO restaurants, a great way to enjoy your favorite wine without the crazy markup. The Ritz-Carlton hotel has rates from $199.

Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, CT

For a little Vegas closer to home, check out Mohegan Sun. There are lots of Valentine's Day packages for couples, but the deal I like best is for girls only. The "No Boys Allowed" deal, from $239 per person per night, includes accommodations, a martini mixing station in the room, two manicures and pedicures, a free martini at the bar and a $10 bet.
