The Tiger Woods scandal could be good for the travel industry. Travelocity reports that in the days following Woods’ announcement that he’d return to professional golf at the upcoming Masters, searches for trips to Augusta – flights, hotels and vacation packages – increased over 16 percent as compared to the week prior. And a trip won't come cheap, even economy hotels are charging a premium for the Masters.
When Tiger Woods tees off at Augusta National at 1:42 p.m. today, the world will be watching. Those lucky enough to have scored passes to the Masters will have a front-row seat to the action.
Hoping to catch a glimpse of the golf great? It can be difficult to find a hotel room near Augusta on its busiest weekend, but Travelocity still has rooms during the Masters if your considering a last-minute weekend trip to Augusta. Here are a few examples:
- Executive Suites from $149
- Howard Johnson Fort Stewart from $149
- La Quinta Augusta from $345
- Baymont Inn Riverwatch from $382

I was just in a town that is over 50 miles from Augusta, but on the same route and it was a zoo there. I can only imagine what it's like in Augusta.

Every sport needs its superstars, the people that even non-fans know about. Woods is that for golf, no doubt. It amazes me that his sponsors were so quick to drop him!
