If you haven't had time to follow the latest from the world of travel--never fear! This Week in Travel is here to give you a heads up on the biggest stories, the strangest news items, and latest updates on the world of travel.
Travel Tips for Super Bowl Fans

I don't know if you've heard but the Super Bowl is this weekend. Gah! I know! The economy might be in the toilet and Punxsutawney Phil saw his stupid shadow, but we've still got the Super Bowl to get excited about. Bloggers are suggesting fun things to do in Miami (where the bowl is) and in New Orleans (because, let's face it, they know how to have a good time). And Intelligent Travel even did a spotlight on Indianapolis, which was awfully inclusive of them.
Bad Weather in the Mid-Atlantic Region

All over the Interwebs, people are buzzing about the huge storm that is set to hit the East Coast this weekend. Many airlines are canceling flights in preparation. If you're flying to the region, be sure to check in online before you head to the airport, as there may be delays or cancellations. If you live in the region...start waxing your snowboard.
Valentine's Day is Around the Corner

Don't end up sleeping on the couch. Make Valentine's Day plans this weekend and dazzle your darling with a romantic escape. We put our heads together on the most romantic hotels in America and many other blogs have good ideas too. Jaunted even named the Top 5 Worst Places to Spend Valentine's Day.
Machu Picchu is a Mess

(Source)
After a torrential downpour and severe mudslides, 3,900 tourists got stranded at the village at the base of Machu Picchu after the railway to the tourist destination got washed out in sections. Now Peru is considering closing its #1 attraction until the repairs are complete.
Web-Cam Watcher Saves Tourist

And in the just plain bizarre category, I'm including this news item from USA Today. A German woman was enjoying a virtual sunset via webcam and noticed a man in distress on her screen. She alerted the authorities and they were able to rescue the man stranded on the frozen North Sea. I hope he bought a lottery ticket later because obviously his stars were aligned.
