If there’s one thing women know about, it’s romance. And if there’s one thing the staff of The Window Seat Blog know about, it’s travel. With that in mind, the bloggettes came together and picked nine hotels in North America they would recommend for Valentine’s Day or a romantic getaway any time of year. For great deals on hotel stays for Valentine’s Day, visit Travelocity.com/romance.
Highly subjective and listed in no particular order, the Window Seat Bloggettes' most romantic hotel picks:
El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa
Farjardo, Puerto Rico
The rooms and restaurants of this incredible, self-contained property sit on a cliff above the sea in Puerto Rico. A funicular takes you down the cliff to the water’s edge, where a catamaran awaits to whisk you away to the resort’s private island replete with hammocks in the palms and cooling sorbets served up in coconuts.
The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa Vermont
Manchester Village, Vermont
A retreat in the Green Mountains of Vermont, The Equinox retains the elegant, 18th century ambiance that once lured leaders of the American Revolution to the mansion. Splurge on a view of Equinox Mountain or the seasonal gardens, and enjoy the quaint surroundings of Manchester Village.

British Columbia, Canada
Nestled at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, this luxury resort is particularly enticing during the cold snowy months in the Coast Mountain Range. After a day spent together on the slopes or in the spa, relax over a romantic dinner in The Wine room or better yet, book a room with a fireplace and snuggle up with a glass of vino by firelight.

Maui, Hawaii
The Wailea area of Maui is home to this elegant, sunset-facing resort with gorgeous pools, romantic restaurants (try candlelit dining under the stars), and a beach where you just might see a sea turtle while you swim. The resort is all suites, but if you opt for one of the decadent villas, you’ll have your own private plunge pool and the utmost in Hawaiian hospitality.
Anchorage, Alaska
The Hotel Alyeska is the only choice for high romance on the Last Frontier and is in a class all its own where Alaska hotels are concerned. Refined décor and located within one of the top 25 ski resorts in North America, this spot offers the perfect blend of the great outdoors and creature comforts.

New York, New York
For a sexy escape to the big city that won’t break the bank, check out Philippe Starck’s Hudson Hotel. Though guest rooms are miniscule, the style is larger than life and the scene in The Library Bar downstairs is laidback and refined, perfect for lingering over drinks before a romantic evening out on the town.

Monterey, California
With fresh cookies in the lobby, complimentary breakfast delivered to your room, and truly the comfiest beds in existence, the Monterey Bay Inn is the perfect place to hole up for a romantic weekend. Rooms face out over the bay and have balconies perfect for evening sunset-gazing—plus, your room comes with a free pair of binoculars for spotting the frolicking sea lions. Talk about a great date night!
The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay, California
Sitting atop a bluff that overlooks the Pacific Ocean, The Ritz-Carlton at Half Moon Bay is perhaps Northern California’s most romantic setting. Roast S’mores and sip hot chocolate on the bluff at sunset, or meander along the coast with your Valentine.

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico
Beautifully appointed guest rooms, picture-perfect pools and a lovely stretch of sand should be all you need for a romantic retreat, but St Regis’ private butler service certainly doesn’t hurt. When you don’t have to lift a finger, it’s easy to forget the rest of the world and just enjoy each other’s company, margarita in hand.

I see you have Fairmont Whistler on the list, but I have to say hands down, my most romantic time has been at the Banff Springs Fairmont. Between the one-of-a-kind spa experience and the horse-drawn carriage ride - I was smitten. Oh and you have to have the fondue at The Grapes wine bar. Tiny little spot in the hotel (5 tables) and extremely cozy. I guess it all worked, since I married him a year later.

The hotels in the list are enchanting. Great picks for Valentine’s Day and Honeymoon getaways. I haven’t visited any of them. Hope to go to one of them if I visit the place where it’s located.
