The Associated Press is officially denouncing this hurricane season as a “dud.” In my opinion, it’s been exactly the opposite. As far as I’m concerned, no news is good news when it comes to hurricanes, and this year, there has been delightfully little hurricane-related news to report.
As the AP article superstitiously states, we might be “tempting the weather gods” by pointing all this out. But the truth is that by this time last year, there had already been five major hurricanes (remember Ike and Bertha?) and nine tropical storms. Thousands had to postpone, change, or even cancel their travel plans due to the weather, and, in especially hard-hit places, some hotels even had to close. This year? We've had two named hurricanes, and I bet you can't remember their names (if you want to know, click here).
This year, pity the poor weather reporter with nothing to do. I can just picture them, itching to put on their jackets and get lashed by the rain for the cameras. Instead, they’ve had to check on sunny shores, making up stories about every possible threatening cloud in sight. Cruise passengers are making their ports on time. The hotel shutters are staying open, and so many sandbags are sitting idle. Beaches are remaining filled with sandcastles and swimmers.
Knock on wood--here’s to hoping that it stays this way!

A few years ago I took a chance and booked a Caribbean vacation during hurricane season. The weather was glorious and the beaches uncrowded. I agree that a slow hurricane season is anything but a dud.

Well, it depends on the people. For example my boyfriend adors hurricanes and storms. I believe everybody will agree that the sky durind the storm is divine. I've found a lot of amazing photos by storm chasers at the pdf files search engine http://pdf.rapid4me.com . Besides, the photo to this article also supports this idea. But at the same time nobody will argue that storms can be dangerous and sometimes they do bring harm and sorrow.
