These Kimpton folks...they got it going on! If you've never stayed in one of their hotels, you absolutely must put it on your travel to do list. Cross my heart, it will be a treat. I've enjoyed sipping complimentary wine at 70 Park Avenue in New York City. I've ordered phenomenal room service at Hotel Palomar in Dallas. And, most recently, I checked out the seriously hot doormen at Hotel Monaco in Seattle! (They don't even charge extra for the eye candy!)
I know I'm gushing right now, but I love Kimpton so much I've actually built them into my hotel search strategy...which goes something like this:
- Find out if there's a Kimpton hotel in the city I'm visiting.
- Do a happy dance if there is. Sulk if there is not.
- Pray to the money Gods that it fits into my budget.
- Do a happy dance if it does. Do a flexible dates hotel search if it doesn't.
- Adjust trip as necessary.
Next time you're heading out of town (or even if you want to indulge in a hotel stay at home), see if there's a Kimpton in your destination. They will not disappoint. Promise. If you're not already convinced, I can give you 17 reasons why you should find a reason to sleep with Kimpton.
17 Things I Love About Kimpton
- Each hotel is one-of-a-kind.
- Your closet comes with a super cozy robe and fuzzy socks.
- They have a fun, pet-friendly program.
- A piece of eye candy will open the door for you.
- Their restaurants and lounges use local ingredients.

My mouth waters just looking at this Bangkok Melon Salad from Ponzu in San Francisco! - If your pet couldn't make the trip, you can borrow a fish!
- They hire talented chefs that create yummy food.
- Free WiFi in most locations.
- They have tall rooms especially for those of Shaq-like height.
- You can enjoy a pedicure...in your room!
- The lobby smells good. What do they pump in there?

Now, imagine the smell of something yummy filling this lobby at Hotel Monaco Seattle! - Free happy hour!
- They're affordable yet feel luxurious.
- Personality! Personality! Personality!
- They'll lend you yoga gear during your stay.
- Their honor bar is customized per location and includes novelty items such as glove warmers in Aspen, a blues CD in Chicago and local brew in Boston.
- They go green with their innovative EarthCare programs. Find them in Travelocity's Green Hotel Directory.

I love Kimpton, too! I tell everyone I know to stay at the Hotel Palomar in Arlington when they visit D.C. It's stunning.

My parents stayed at a Kimpton a couple of months ago, and I was totally won over by the free wine in the lobby (poured freely for me and my fiance as well, EVEN THOUGH WE WEREN'T STAYING THERE), as well as the plentiful free refills of white cheese popcorn. And you're not wrong on the eye candy doormen.

Anyone familiar with the Hotel Monaco (Kimpton) in downtown Chicago?
How do you think Hotel Monaco compares with Intercontinental Hotel downtown, in terms of location, niceness, etc. (aside from price issues). Any other suggestion for hotels in Loop or near Miracle Mile? Thanks.

I have stayed there and really enjoyed myself. The rooms are nice, the staff was accommodating and the location is good. I also like The James Hotel on East Ontario. Monaco versus Intercontinental? The Intercontinental could use some updating.
