Today I'm stopping by The View from the Bay to do a round-up of the best summer travel gadgets. Savvy Window Seat readers already know about a few of the gizmos I'm going to talk about, but here are my top five (in no particular order):
2) Bose QuietComfort Noise-Canceling Headphones
3) Brenthaven X-Ray-Friendly Laptop Bag
5) The Apple AirPort Express
The AirPort Express is my latest obsession. If you're anything like me, you occasionally have to travel for work. Setting up an office in a hotel room is never pleasant, but the worst part is being tethered to that tiny little desk in the corner, thanks to the DSL Internet connection.
Well, Apple has heard your pleas for help and invented just the thing. The AirPort Express turns any cable Internet access into wireless--in seconds! Trust me, I can't for the life of me set up my wireless router at home, but the AirPort Express took me seconds to figure out. Plus, it's tiny--about the same size as my Apple computer cord--and it allows you to set up a secure wireless network, which means my boss will be happy too!
At just $99, it's a bargain. I'd pay almost anything to have wireless access in my hotel room and it works with PCs and Macs.

Thank you! But can we discuss what a tiny, tiny elf I look like compared to the hosts? Next time, I'm wearing HEELS.

While travelling you definitely need a pair of noise cancelling headphones, unpleasant sounds can ruin an otherwise pleasant flight. Its also nice to have a power adapter kit, to limit the number of chargers you have to bring. Portable DVD players, PSP's and video iPods are all a good way to pass the time when you're waiting on your flight or in the air.
