Is it terrible to be a tiny bit thankful for global warming? We've had near perfect weather here in San Francisco, an unusual occurrence for a time of year that typically leaves fog and dreary skies hanging over the city. I've been able to enjoy lunch in the sun and walks through the park that actually left me a little pink on the nose. Now, I'm no scientist, but I chalk this incredible weather up to global warming. I suppose there's a silver lining in every gray cloud.

From talking to colleagues in Toronto, family in Dallas and friends in Chicago, I learned that much of the continent is experiencing less than desirable weather so far this summer. Naturally, I took these conversations as a chance to gloat that "it's 65 and sunny here in San Francisco!"

After rubbing this factoid in just a tad, the traveler in me tells my weather-distressed cohorts to stop complaining and just get out of town already. I even offer up my couch when I'm feeling especially generous.

If you're stuck in a destination that's being slammed with unfortunate weather patterns this summer, my advice to you is the same: get out of town! While I probably won't offer you a place to crash, I will guide you to some great travel deals in a perfect weather destination.

Perfect Weather Destinations

San Francisco: Admittedly, I'm a biased resident and die-hard San Francisco fan, but you can't argue with the numbers. It's a great time to experience Golden Gate Park, spend a day at Crissy Field or hike in Marin. 10 Day Forecast: Expect sunny days lingering in the upper 60s, occasionally creeping into the 70s.

San Diego: This is one of those destinations that you just love to hate. (Well, if you don't live there!) The weather is always ideal in San Diego, so you can pretty much count on a sunny day at the beach and a healthy dose of Vitamin D. 10 Day Forecast: Achingly perfect 70 degree weather.

Lake Tahoe, Nev.: Winter or summer, this is one of my favorite places on Earth. The lake stays cool even during the hottest months, so a quick dip will give you the chills when it heats up. 10 Day Forecast: Upper 70s and low 80s, perfect for hiking the trails and enjoying all the outdoor pursuits.

Sun Valley, Idaho: This is an often overlooked and terribly underrated destination in my book. Idaho is a beautiful state and a great place for outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting. 10 Day Forecast: Temperatures in the 70s. There's a chance of rain at the end of the week, but it'll be nice and sunny for the weekend!

Jackson Hole, Wyo.: I love mountain destinations in the summertime. They're more affordable and less crowded than in the winter months. Plus, the weather tends to be gorgeous. Jackson Hole is one of the most charming, and it's the gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. 10 Day Forecast: Low to mid 70s every day with a small chance of rain on a couple of days.

Banff, Canada: Did I mention that I love mountain destinations in the summertime? Set in one of Canada's most scenic national parks, Banff and its sister resort Lake Louise are a real treat if you want to get out and enjoy the outdoors. 10 Day Forecast: Upper 60s to low 70s with super chilly nights. Pack layers!

Do you happen to live in a perfect weather destination? Do tell!
