Given the latest news on Wall Street of the demise of Lehman Brothers and the sale of Merrill Lynch there will be a lot of bankers hitting the streets. And that probably doesn’t make those of use who aren’t bankers feel much better about the economy of late. It would be easy to despair about these times. But then again, what good will that do? It won’t change the outcome or stem the tide of what is to come. So why not escape it all?

I say, it’s time to sail away. That’s right just pick up and get away from it all without a care or worry. Perhaps you’re out of a job and you need time to think or perhaps you just need a rest and a break from all the news of the War in Iraq, the upcoming election, fuel prices and people talk-talk-talking about just what is the situation in America. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to hop on board.

Right now cruises are a great buy so you don’t have to feel guilty about spending on your well earned vacation.

For maximum savings a cruise out of a “home port,” meaning one you don’t have to fly to, makes the most sense. There are over 25 home parts in the US which means you may just be in luck.

Even if you have to fly there are ways to get around high fares by shopping flexible dates and times. Go in a few days early and stay at a hotel offering a discount which will extend your vacation but can also get the price of your flight down.

When it comes to cruising insurance is always a smart option. You can add it on to the price and should weather or some other unforeseeable event take place prior to your departure you’ll be safe.

Once on board you'll kick back on a deck chair, feel the ocean breeze and let the sights of the sea carry away all your cares...at least for a little while as you're fed, entertained and indulged on board the boat of your choosing.

Happy Sails!
